Tulsa axes men?s coach Wojcik

Updated:?March 12, 2012,?12:41 am?ET

Tulsa fired men?s basketball coach Doug Wojcik despite six consecutive winning seasons.

Wojcik compiled a 140-92 record in seven seasons with the Golden Hurricane, who never made it to the NCAA Tournament during his tenure.

A former assistant coach at Michigan State, Wojcik set a school record for most wins by a coach.

Nonetheless, Tulsa athletic director Ross Parmley said a change in leadership was necessary, citing a ?35 percent decrease in season-ticket sales, a 43 percent decrease in revenue and rapidly growing apathy among our fan base.?
